Get to Know Ally, the Face Behind Tzimmes + Citrus

Hi, I’m Ally Mawhirter. The face, chef, photog, and brains behind Tzimmes + Citrus. In 2017, while running my own baking and wedding cake business, I decided to start the Instagram @tzimmesandcitrus. What started out as a fun, side project has blossomed into one of my greatest passions, combining my love for creating recipes, writing about food, and photographing the process.

My background has always been in the culinary arts as a culinary school graduate who has worked in the hospitality industry for over 10 years. In that time, I was lucky enough to work in countless restaurants and bakeries, seeing firsthand the skill, technique, and unique touch that goes into someone’s favorite dish.My goal is to bring 5-star quality recipes and the fun and exciting experience of cooking to anyone with a kitchen. In 2020, I picked up food photography as a result of losing my job due to COVID and haven’t looked back since.
